Happiness Is An Inside Job

Something I’ve learned about happiness is that it’s an inside job.

Real happiness isn’t because of what’s going on outside of me. It’s not because of this thing or that thing that I am happy. It’s not because of this relationship or that relationship either.

Things and relationships are relative, temporary, and changing according to the times and reasons they serve the situation and those of us in the situation. So, being temporal by nature, things and relationships can’t possibly be what makes me really happy.

Such external, temporal forces activate and heighten feelings in happiness in me, but they are not the source. The only “thing” or “relationship” that can be is what is actually also permanent, and that is my Divine Essence.

It is the stable center of me – the force behind and the source of my happiness.

Here come bad news talking this and that, yeah,
Well, give me all you got, and don’t hold it back, yeah,
Well, I should probably warn you I’ll be just fine, yeah,
No offense to you, don’t waste your time
Here’s why
Because I’m happy…

Clap! I know what happiness is to me.
