The Science of Changing Your Mind

Did you know that we have 3 brains in one? Actually, I’m referring to the 3 major parts… the primitive or “reptilian” brain, which is made of the brain stem and cerebellum; the limbic system, which includes the amygdala and hippocampus; and the neocortex, which is made of four major lobes that cover most of the rest of the brain.

Okay, I know it seems like I’m geeking out here. What does all this have to do with what I usually write about?

Last spring I was dazzled by a live lecture Dr. Joe Dispenza gave on this information and recently came across a TEDx talk he did on how we use our 3 brains to go from thinking to doing to being. Dr. Dispenza is an expert in the field of neuroscience. Through his books and lectures, he teaches what happens to our brains and our physiological body chemistry when we try to change our behavior.

When you see what has to happen in your brain for you to make a lasting change, you’ll see why is so important to increase your awareness of what thoughts you’re choosing. Watch this video and pay particular attention to what he says about intention at around 12:30 and firing and wiring thoughts in your brain at around 13:00. He calls it the science of changing your mind.

Enjoy!
