Each Chaotic Twist And Turn Is Golden

Anytime you go through something challenging in life – anytime you experience sorrow, tragedy and disappointment – it is an opportunity to raise your consciousness up a notch. You have a choice during these tough times.  It’s when your ability to exercise free will is at its greatest. You can choose to observe what is happening inside of you while this awful something is happening outside of you. You can choose to see that you have complete control over your response to the circumstances. Or you can choose to think of yourself as a victim. You can remain stuck in the point of view that life is happening to you and you are powerless.

Twists and TurnsAll the great teachers throughout history taught that each seemingly chaotic twist and turn in your life is golden because each challenge gives you a chance to shift your awareness and even your direction if necessary. They taught that you can use such triggering events to awaken to who you really are and reconnect to your life’s purpose.

When I was youngster, I read Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet, and a phrase from the book has never left me, and I’ve quoted it many times in my writings“The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.” It’s true. If not for the contrasts in life, we would lack the depth of understanding of ourselves and of each other.

Victim of circumstances or powerful being with the ability to choose a new approach.

What do you choose?
