Inspiring People: Evgeny Smirnov, dancer

Evgeny Smirnov came to my attention recently, and I am adding him to my growing list of Inspiring People stories.

I did some research to find out more about Evgeny. One article described him as “Russia’s break dance champion, the winner of over 30 cups and handfuls of medals.” But apparently in 2012 he lost his leg due to complications and delayed medical treatment after a vehicle accident.

Another article from shortly after the accident reported “Russian breakdance champion, Evgeny Smirnov, won’t be able to impress the audience with his moves again as the young man has lost his leg…”

Fast forward to 2015, and here he is in this video performing on Russia’s Got Talent in a moving dance performance with partner, Dascha Smirnova. Obviously he still believed he would be able to impress the audience (and judges) with his moves again! And for that I’m grateful. Go Evgeny!
